Designed For
This two year course is designed for students who wish to train to become a counsellor working in a counselling service agency. This course is humanistic in orientation, studying the theoretical approaches of Person-Centred, Gestalt and Psychosynthesis. Successful completion of this course means that you will be able to provide a therapeutic counselling service within the context of an agency’s service framework. The CPCAB Diploma has achieved recognition from the Open University and has been credited with 120 points towards a foundation degree.

Assessment
Assessment will be both internal and external.
You will be required to produce an audio tape of a personally recorded counselling session which will be externally assessed. Complete 100 hours of supervised client work as a formally contracted volunteer within an counselling agency. You will also be required to complete 40 hours of personal counselling therapy.
You will be expected to build a portfolio. The three assessment methods used throughout the training are review of documents, assessed observation, testimony and meeting course criteria. This ensures that all aspects of the seven processes of practitioner development are evidenced.
Entry Requirement
Minimum age of entry 20 years.
Hold CPCAB Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills and CPCAB Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies, or Recognised Prior Learning (RPL).
You will be asked to attend an Interview where your readiness to cope with the course content will be explored.
You will need to provide a reference from your most recent tutor.
Admission to Year 2 is dependent on successfully completing Year 1.

The training course costs include all tutoring costs, tutorials, course materials and candidate registration fees of £229.00 per year to CPCAB.

Personal therapy 40 hours with an accredited therapist.

Progression Route
